On Administration & Policies: The principal of the school is not extremely helpful or friendly. She generally only talks to students when they are in trouble and when she is discouraging their behavior. Also, the way that she dresses tends to contradict the dress code implemented for students. I believe that if she makes students dress a certain way then she should dress to a certain level as well. Guidance counselors are very helpful but can often be hard to meet with because there are only four of them. Many times it takes about a week for a student to be able to meet with their counselor after they have signed up. I believe that there is a bullying policy in place but it seems to rarely be followed.

On Educational Outcomes: Like most high schools, Millbrook barely prepares its students for the real world. Schools are typically put in place to teach basic academic principles that are rarely used in life. However, Millbrook offers classes such as financing and food and nutrition, two things that are used basically every day in life.

On Sports & Fitness: There are plenty of athletic opportunities for students of both genders. The teams tend to do relatively well, especially the girls basketball team! The community is very supportive no matter how the teams are doing. It's great to see so much support from members outside of the school family. Student sections during basketball and football games tend to be packed and loud. However, other sports generally do not have a loud crowd but many students and faculty still attend the games. The athletic facilities are not the fanciest but they are very clean and well-kept. Also, teams typically receive at least one piece of new gear about every other season which is great.

On Overall Experience: If I could do it all over again, I would definitely go to this school again. The other students were not the greatest but that is generally typical in high schools throughout America. The teachers are passionate about their work and they are also extremely friendly, frequently opening their arms and hearts and accepting their students as their "children". Even when a student no longer has a particular teacher, the bond remains evident. The faculty and staff at Millbrook High School genuinely care about the students. The greatest experience at Millbrook is the "Go Pink" week held once a week during February. It is a relatively new tradition and its goal is to raise as much money as possible to help fund cancer research. There are many activities throughout the week that bring the school closer than ever while supporting a great cause.

On Food: Although the food is not all that delicious, the cafeteria is one of the best in the state of Virginia. I believe it actually won an award for the nutritional value offered daily. A salad bar is available every day and there are also many other healthy food options that are available weekly.
