On Health & Safety: Bullying is a problem at this school, but I wouldn't say it's any worse than the typical high school. However, I do not have issues with bullying and I cannot speak for everyone. Our school has decent alarm/safety procedures. But, there have been enough incidents in my few years as a student here to make me aware of all the potential things that could happen to us. Past incidents have forced my school to take on more safety precautions, such as student's being required to wear their ID's at all times-although most students rarely follow this. Our school police have done a decent job, as none of the student body has been harmed by school related incidents. I cannot speak of the school nurse or health programs because I have no experience with them.

On Academics: The most popular classes are the "easy" AP courses- such as psychology and statistics. Really, these are just the classes with the best teachers. Most students are involved in AP courses, even if they shouldn't be. Counselors will work hard to put you in your requested classes, and you will often be able to switch out of a class if you are not satisfied with it-permitted it is in the appropriate time frame. Some of the teachers are great, some are simply there for the pay check. Your typical high school. Work load varies depending on the class. For instance, my AP history class had homework almost every day, all the school year. My AP statistics class, on the other hand, had homework once or twice a month. Work load depends on the course and the teacher. There are multiple study options for students, most popular being the "study hall" during lunch, where students are encouraged to get extra help from teachers during the designated hour.

On Overall Experience: While my school does have an extremely high sense of school spirit, which can lead to a lot of fun, it lacks in many other areas. Most teachers and students do not care about their education and it is obvious they would rather be anywhere else. Students often act out in class, causing disruptions and inability to learn. AP classes are aplenty, and most students are encouraged to take them. By encouraged, I mean forced. Students who are obviously not qualified to be in advanced courses are constantly shoved into them, causing both their grades and the education of the other students to suffer. This school is a complete joke, and I am often ashamed to say I attend it. If I were to do everything over, I would most certainly not come here again. The only bright spot is the amount of diversity. You will meet some truly outstanding students and teachers here, they're just mixed in with all the slackers.
