On Sports & Fitness: School spirit and student involvement is relatively high. We have our strengths in basketball, track, etc. but definitely not in football or baseball. The athletes still genuinely try their best.

On Student Culture & Diversity: Just a typical high school atmosphere. Being in Alabama does result in a large Christian population but from my own personal experience we also have people of all kinds of religions and sexual orientations. Relatively racially diverse.

On Academics: Our science and math departments are especially impressive. The AP teachers in these subjects have high passing rates and the students are pretty good because they are willing to take the challenging courses. It generally seems as if the lower the standard of the class is, the lower the quality. Not that the teachers are less qualified, but the students care less and in turn the teachers tend to make the classes pretty easy. Maybe this is just my perspective as an AP student but this is what I have observed.

On Extracurriculars: There are plenty of clubs and organizations offered, but funding is pretty minimal. Sponsors are always hard to find and clubs sometimes fall apart because of lack of leaders. Our school constantly loses faculty so the clubs basically start over with brand new sponsors almost every year. The willingness of students to participate is there but clubs aren't very supported.

On Health & Safety: Security is always present. Visitors are monitored closely and must check in through a system in the office that goes as far as to track their legal background. Side doors are locked from the inside and must be opened by faculty to enter the building.
