Resources & Facilities: I have only gone to my counselor once. However, the one time I did was extremely important to me. I was in search of a possible shadowing opportunity. I needed help finding an elementary teacher that would allow me to come in for a day, and my counselor helped me set this up and had some great advice for me.

Academics: We have a wide range of classes with great teachers. Actually, a lot of our teachers have their master's degrees, and are great at their job, and even better at connecting with the students. Luckily for me, the variety of classes we have have helped me discover some of my greatest interests. For example, my freshman year I took a photography class for fun and ended up loving it. Now I take the pictures for a majority of events I'm in, and for my family. I even joined yearbook this year because of it. Another example would be my junior year when I signed up for child development. This class quickly became my favorite, with one of my favorite teachers. It even reassured me that my dream to became an elementary teacher was right.

Sports & Fitness: Unfortunately for some athletes, many of our sports teams do not do so well. Of course, we do have some shinning programs like swimming, baseball, and girls basketball at one point, but a majority of other teams are less than, or average. This does not rightfully represent some of the athletes at the school though. We have a handful of athletes that have great talent and potential, but do not have an equally as great team to help them showcase their talent. I wish these people had more of an opportunity to get recognized for their talent.

Student Culture & Diversity: We live in a diverse community, therefore, our school is diverse. There is a mighty handful of races and cultures represented in our school. Although it is quite noticeable that there is an education gap between some of the different races, and I really wish this wasn't a problem. For example, if you walked into an AP or CIS class, you might see 3 or 4 students that are of a different race than white. Unfortunately that is something that is hard to control, or fix. Growing up and being a student in a diverse school, I would hope to see more interracial interactions, and learning going on, but that is not always the case. This makes me want to be a teacher, and push all kids to be on the same learning track.

Administration & Policies: The dress code is a very controversial topic, especially among girls. It is said that inappropriate attire is not for school, and is a distraction. However, this rule is not regularly enforced. I see plenty of girls showing off a little too much skin for school, and they will walk by administration at ease. The only dress code that is truly enforced is no hats in school, and I believe that is way less of a problem then someone showing their stomach off to the world.
