I had an excellent experience at Tesoro. I was able to take many classes that I enjoyed and wanted to see if they would be of further study interest. Mr. Trotter was amazing! I also liked the many AP classes that were available.
I was involved heavily with Computer Science and Music and given opportunities to excel. However, I wish that I would have been able to learn Python and C++ as well have had some aural training classes. I have one on to major in Computer Science and minor in piano performance. I do wish I would have had opportunities to play piano at performances, or wherever. I feel that I was prepared to take on the challenges of college level courses. I built many relationships with staff members that have continued to guide me and fostered my interests and creativity while I was there. Nonetheless, their music program was excellent and award winning and I was able to play piano in my free period in the choir room.

I got to experience Tesoro from the perspective of a very STEM forward, yet musically inclined stance. Tesoro has as many good teachers who give their all to their lesson plan as there are teachers who just show up each day. I was fortunate enough to have a lot of teachers over the years who taught me AP classes that more than prepared me for the test. In terms of the music department, I think Tesoro has one of the best public school programs in my county, and it was a big part of my life there. I would say one thing I would love to see there is an increase in support for POC and LGBTQ+ communities. There were a few incidents over my four years there, and it was disappointing how the school handled them. Otherwise, academically and extra-curricular-wise, Tesoro is a fantastic public school, and people have moved into the school district specifically for the opportunity to attend.
Tesoro is an awesome place. I genuinely enjoy going to school here. In all honesty, if I could go back and choose what high school to be enrolled in, I would choose Tesoro. We have amazing visual and performing arts, the academics are astounding, and the student involvement/ school spirit brings life to the campus. One thing that can be improved on campus is the involvement of administration. It is apparent that many students do not know a lot of our administration team, they just know that they are extremely strict. It would make the students much happier to know who is behind the desk.
