If you know what path you want to go on, Wetumpka High School is a a good place for you. A decent amount of AP classes are offered and almost every subject has an advanced version. The food in the lunchroom is edible and can be really good by the lunchroom staff is always sweet. The new administration is amazing and at least one of the counselors are great. It's easy to choose college major or post high school goal and then create a good path of classes to take. Despite, the good things, WHS is very outdated and it's facilities are in poor shape. It can easily be seen that most of the budget gets put towards sports, especially football. The art programs are all amazing and well ran they just lack money and facilities. With the right budget, I'm sure WHS could be way better than it is now. Regardless, I think the biggest problem with WHS is the lack of good teachers. Many of the teachers I have are amazing, but as a senior I was able to pick my classes, and therefore my teachers.
In my experience, Wetumpka High School would not be my first choice in schooling for any child, as classes and teachers are not the absolute best they could be. The only way to be in a class that will actually prepare you for a world outside of high school is to take higher advanced classes, or do trade school. The best parts of this school is the community created in some extracurriculars, such as the band, who are close knit, and others such as dance, cheer, and sports. The worst would be just about everything else. Most of the teachers don't particularly care, and there are only a few good school administrators who will take the time to help you. I want to see the quality of help in the school change, as some people have limited opportunities, the staff should be trying their best to help everyone to the best of their abilities.
In my time at Wetumpka High School I have been able to participate in many clubs and activities while surrounded by teachers, administrators, and friends who all supported me
