The teachers make friend with students, not in a weird way. But they let their favorite students do better in a class. Teachers aren't available during lunch. You have the same seven teachers for 3 years so you do get to know them, frequently I felt that the teachers cared more about making friends than teaching a class.

The teachers and parent do have disagreements but when the school goes on field trips there was always overwhelming parent support
