I enjoyed my IB high school experience at ARC. I was able to get the IB diploma upon graduation. I was strong in academics and sports while I was there. I feel like the workload prepared me for college, however, I do feel College is challenging academically for me. I would like to see better teachers- teachers using more creative instruction and with their own material- less taking it from online sources. I would like to see more "teaching" and less following along with already done information. I would like to see better nutrition options at that school.
I would like to see social change in the school. A small percentage of the teachers did not seem to care about their students and it showed in their teaching capabilities, and the students themselves participated in various unhealthy habits like underage smoking and drinking. Lots of fights rang out in the school and it was upsetting to see a classmate get carted off to juvie just like that. The school did fund nice things for the students sometimes and most of the teachers cared and interacted with the students but its not the same. The school has good bones, it just really needs to crack down on its students and not worry about little stuff like dress code and all that. There are more important issues,
I am Makiah Harris, and my best and worst experiences was my 12th grade year was the best year for me! it was fun my teachers helped me out got my grade up to A’s and made sure that i stayed excellent in school. My worst experience was in 10th grade year when we had to do virtual on the laptops because i keep my grades all A’s all year around and didn’t get invited into honors day and also when the kids always fighting and take rights and freedom from everyone else.
