Extracurriculars: There did seem to be a lot of opportunity to be involved in something from sports to theater to academic clubs.

Health & Safety: I never had to fear for my daughter's safety. She was able to walk home from school without any fear of harm. While there may be bullying at some level in the school the honors classes were pretty much free from that. There was a good sense of working together rather than the intense competition and thus potential bullying at this level..

There was also a full time police officer on the school premises so safety never seemed to be an issue.

Student Culture & Diversity: As a lesbian I felt very unaccepted while attending this school and the extremely conservative attitudes here made high school somewhat miserable. There is a small number of students of color, but mostly everyone is white, and racism runs rampant. When I was a freshman, a very popular girl went on the video announcements in blackface and nobody cared, most people thought it was really funny. My best friend who is half Chinese transferred to a different school because the racism at this school bothered him so much. Basically, racism, sexism and homophobia are rampant and blatant here.

Sports & Fitness: Probably the best of what this school has to offer are the sports teams. Way more focus is put on sports than on academics.

Educational Outcomes: At this high school, advisors are not helpful at all, and finding colleges and work after graduating is something you have to do completely on your own. Recruiters for the military appear several times a year in the cafeteria.
