Overall Experience: James Bowie is a diverse school with a wide range of opportunities. You may just have to search for a club or group that interests you, but chances are there is a group of kids waiting for you to find them. You get out what you put into this experience- your success is your choice.

Overall Experience: Aside from the ridiculous dress code, the hot/humid hallways and the occasional cliques, Bowie isn't that bad of a school. There are a lot of great teachers that are willing to take the time out to help you with whatever you need. It's rather easy to make friends here and Bowie has a lot of cool events such as Bulldawgs and Hotdogs, pep rallies and the football games. Be prepared to work hard when you get here because some classes are not easy. As long as you have some friends and make nice with your teachers, you'll be fine here. Your biggest concern is the dress code because it's very hot nearly year round, and they are way too harsh on girls' outfits.

Overall Experience: Although it's easy to say that school is stressful and too hard, I have learned to appreciate my school and my education. I think this school offers a good balance of challenging and easier courses so you can pick and choose which areas to focus on. One thing that I really value about my high school experience is I've learned to challenge myself more. I used to be a student who would take the easiest classes I could, but I am now finding myself taking nearly all AP courses because I truly do find myself learning more, and in the end, having a more enjoyable experience. Part of the main reason I love to take AP or advanced courses is because of our extremely motivated teachers. For the most part, our AP teachers really do seem to have that deep sense of actually wanting to help us learn. It's not just a simple job for them. A prime example of my experience with this was my junior year APUSH teacher. She did an excellent job at keeping me attentive in a seemingly lackluster subject. The information will always stay the same, but what's important is how it's taught, and I thought she did a fantastic job. I felt like I both challenged myself and had fun in her class and it certainly just adds to the character of the school, and myself.

Overall Experience: In my personal experience, I have felt that I have grown academically and socially because of this school. I have had generally very encouraging and hands on teachers who really care about your academic success and getting you to be your best. However, a major problem that I have with this school is the actual school itself: there is no air conditioning in the academic building. That means when it's hot outside it is ten degrees hotter inside and same with the cold, I feel this disrupts a students day majorly because they are more focused on how to get around the challenging weather than how to prepare for their next class. I am a active member of the theatre company at my school, which is a wonderful and challenging program full of some of the hardest working students in staff at school who frankly don't get enough credit, and our theatre is outdated and falling apart. We make it work by cleaning as much as we can and by putting on top notch performances, but I feel we definitely deserve a better facility.
