Bowie is definitely very diverse. Whether you're into debate, wrestling, or even Dr. Who, you'll find a group of people that share the same interests. Due to it's diversity and size (it contains approximately 3,000 students), there are a lot of different classes offered to suit a student's needs. Some of my favorite memories at Bowie were during football games. At home games, the student section is always packed with teens wearing red and black. Also, Bowie's school spirit is incredible. From football games to spirit week, it's rare to find a student who doesn't participate. Even the teachers dress up! Although Bowie does have a few problems (like all high schools do), it is has given me so much. If I had to redo high school, I would definitely choose Bowie.

James Bowie High School is a great fit for students interested in fine arts and/or athletics. However, if students aren't, the experience can be somewhat boring. As a competitive soccer player I really enjoyed my time so far at Bowie. I've made life long friendships from my extracurricular activities and academics that Bowie provided me. My teachers really connected with me on a variety of levels, but I think one motivation of that would be my intelligence. I've noticed that teachers connect more with students who try harder in the classroom than students who don't. One thing that definitely makes my school unique is the lack of air conditioning and heating in the hallways for the 3,000 students whom attend Bowie. In the summer months, the hallways are 10 degrees warmer and the hallways in the winter months are 10 degrees colder. However my favorite experience at Bowie occurred during finals week. My debate teacher allowed students who were exempted from the final to preform Dance Dance Revolution in the hallways while the other students completed the final. Overall, I've really enjoyed my time at Bowie so far, but the building itself needs some long- due renovation.

The teachers at Bowie High School genuinely care for the students and want to see them succeed inside and outside the classroom. There is a great variety of male and female teachers and most teachers do not show favoritism. The teachers try to incorporate technology into the classroom at least once a week, whether it be online simulations, electronic quizzes, reviews, or having students complete essays online. Communication is constant and efficient between teachers and students and teachers promote further investigation of topics, for example questions or coming in outside of class to talk about it.
