Administration & Policies: I have actually reviewed the policies for public displays of affection at my high school for a previous scholarship, and found some very interesting information. Teachers were able to enforce the rules in the hallways, but not within classrooms themselves. Dress code policies are not followed at all, and that is just upsetting some days. Sometimes I got the feeling that some teachers don't even know the school handbook and rules at all, they just make their own rules for just their room.

Sports & Fitness: There are lots of things that can be done in terms of fitness. Some are after school programs that help with increasing strength, or sports like track which is competitive. There is the pretty obviously difference between students however, those who work at their body and keep in shape and those who don't really bother, and then the unlucky kids who just don't have the motivation to keep at it, or have other issues with staying athletic. Just this last season our basketball boys team went to state and took second, this was the first time in our school history we even made it to that level, let alone second place, so the the school spirit is pretty high right now. The Phy. Ed. teachers are really important to this too, they get along well with kids, but sometimes their eagerness seems to put off students as well.

Teachers: I personally dealt with more of the advanced class teachers so I can't say all that much for those who taught more of the regular level academics, but I enjoyed the teachers. Lots of lessons would be hands on, or have little exercises to do with it, and students were always being asked if they wanted to do things in different way. All of my English teachers for example that I had over 4 years I loved, each and every one of them. Even now in college I send emails to them every now and then to see how they are doing, or to ask for some advice in what I should do for different projects and so forth. They just love to keep in touch with old students.

Extracurriculars: There are lots of options for students to participate in at Champlin Park. I personally was a part of the Marching Band, Track and Field, Cross Country Running, and the Nordic Skiing Team. The only issue I had sometimes with the administration was their utter disregard for the Marching Band and refusing to acknowledge it as a sport. Other then that it was a pretty good system.

Educational Outcomes: I took part in the AVID program at CPHS, and because of that I felt as though I was prepared to go to college. They helped me with my college search, building a resume, applying for college, and paying for ACT testing. I feel as though I owe a lot to the teachers that I had through that program so now whenever I have time and I'm home for break I try to drop by and to say hello and thank them again for their help. I usually then become an on the spot speaker and talk about my college experiences. Thanks to the teachers I had, I am certain in my goal to become an English teacher.
