Administration & Policies: This school is tough on dress code. I think that they could do more good in the school by focusing on other things; pulling girls out of class because their shoulders are showing seems petty and unfair, and does nothing to improve academics. Different teachers have very different policies for attendance; there was supposed to be a school wide policy, but some teachers thought them too strict and others, too lenient. So participation was quite varied.

Sports & Fitness: The favor is very shifted toward boys sports, and football in particular. The football team didn't have to scrape and beg for enough money to function like many of the other programs, and the football stadium and equipment was well maintained. I had the most contact with the football program because I was in the marching band. I cannot describe in detail the conditions of the other teams. Overall, the students were supportive of the sports programs and went to games.

Teachers: Not all the teachers are great, but I did have some who genuinely cared about the students, and went above and beyond to help us learn. More often than not, those teachers were available outside of class and would work with students individually to help them succeed.

Extracurriculars: There are a lot of choices for extracurricular activities. I participated in the color guard and winter guard, and it was a great experience. Marching band is woefully underfunded, so students spend a lot of time fundraising to be able to participate in competitions. I am not well versed in the other extracurriculars, but there were frequently concerts put on by the music and dance programs, and club activities, and sports events.

Educational Outcomes: I went to ASU immediately following graduation, because I earned a merit scholarship. I feel that AP classes in high school prepared me for college. But I think if a student took only on-level classes and never any accelerated ones, they would be very ill prepared for college. The classes were way too easy and more focused on tests than on actually learning. The school did not teach me any life skills to help me be on my own, but I am one of the lucky ones-- my parents allow me to live at home as long as I need to, to successfully finish school.
