Charter Oak High School Reviews

Charter Oak has been an awesome experience. Being in High School was tough sometimes but just like any other life experience, you have to get through it. Charter Oak is one big family and shares many core values regarding success after high school. I have had a great experience with one teacher in particular, Mrs. Hope, Mrs. Hope was my junior math teacher and showed an endless amount of passion and love for her students. This year, she is my Avid 12 teacher and we have grown closer through the college application process and during planning out what I'm made to do after high school. The worst part of my high school experience is probably not being able to use the restroom because of the loitering in the restrooms at all hours of the day. If there was one thing I think should change on this campus would be for the students to not be allowed to gain a relationship with the proctors and a proctor should be in the restrooms at all times.
The best part of my experience at Charter Oak, as a student, would be interacting with the people there. Since the school is very diverse, you get to interact with all sorts of people who have different talents and interests. The teachers are mostly caring for students, especially in elective classes. The students are mostly friendly to others and eager to learn new lessons, even in AP Calculus, which is my math class this year. The worst part of my experience would be witnessing certain students vape in the bathrooms and on a rare occasion be a drug dog going through my classroom. What I would like to see change are more anti-drug efforts throughout campus.
This is my second year being a student at Charter Oak High School. When I first got there the students were overall nice and I made friends fairly quickly. I joined the Marching Band which has been the best experience so far. The people and staff there are encouraging and I feel that I've learned a lot both with music and work habits. Something I would like to see change is the schedule they recently changed to have shorter classes. Block periods, about 2 hour classes, allowed students more time to work and really understand the material taught, especially in classes that are more hands on.
