Choctaw High School Reviews

There have been many ups and downs during my almost four years at Choctaw High School. My best experience at my school is all of the people I have met. I have found amazing people and made close friends who will be with my the rest of my life. The worst part of my experience was a shooting that occurred at the first football game of this school year. It affected me and so many others in negative ways. It is not the schools fault that the shooting happened; it just happened to occur there. I am grateful to those who stood together during that time period and happy that it is now in the past. A change I would like to see is the construction be done at the school. Since the beginning of last summer, there has been construction going on all around the school grounds. I would like to see it done with the hopes of it making the school better than before.
I thoroughly enjoy the arts program, specifically the Drama and Pottery classes. The competitive band, Drama & Stagecraft, and Debate teams are excellent and provide wondrous opportunities. The school does not give the students a sense of safety. My fist week of sophomore year there was a drug bust in the senior parking lot. The school does nothing against assault complaints and largely ignores the female population. The academics are sub-par, but enough to allow room to grow in the desired field.
I have loved attending Choctaw High School, I have had some outstanding teachers who have helped me not only through academics but personal things as well. As a member of student council all of the pep-rallies and other school events have been so much fun to plan and attend. My senior year had a rough start with a shooting taking place at a home football game, but our school did as much as they could to offer help and counseling to the students affected.
