Overall Experience: I personally did not live the environment of Cleveland, but I did transfer there for their IB prgram. I did not like the lack of diversity and I feel the people were very closed minded in a different way. They were TOO liberal. They believe what htier parents believe without knowing all the details and there was little acceptance to any type of religion. More christians I ever met at Cleveland did not feel comfortable being open about their religious beliefs.

I enjoyed a lot of clubs they offered. Lacrosse, French Club, etc.

This school is unique because its spawning grounds for the typical Portland being. The "vibes" at school are different even in comparison to down the street at Franklin. It is slightly earthy and free. If i had the choice I would have just went to Madison High School. I do not believe transfering there was worth the class/education difference. The teachers do expect more out of you but I believe I would have gotten just as far.

Health & Safety: Safety and resources are very reliable and able to reach at this high school. I do not believe bullying was an issue, if it was it was handled directly.

Overall Experience: Looking back, I enjoyed the years. High school in general has its ups and downs but I think this school has made a good impact on me. I have learned from my teachers and classmates. My favorite part has been being on the dance team all four years and meeting my friends. I would choose Cleveland if I had to go back and do high school again because of the good environment and the social activism present in the school. There is a great college and career center as well which has helped so many students on their way out of Cleveland. I love the vast majority of artistic students and found myself inspired by classes and classmates; students like to express themselves which makes me happy.

Food: I do not eat at the cafeteria so I do not have any information on that. Off campus lunch is awesome however. There are many places to walk and even more places to go on Hawthorn or Division if you have a car. With off campus lunch it is easier to reach out to new people to get lunch and is such a nice breath of fresh air to go places with friends. I feel off campus lunch is very important and is so essential to the students. This past year lunches were made shorter which was not as great. Making lunches shorter is unfair to students and we have less time to go to healthier places, less time to relax, recharge, work on homework, attend lunch club meetings, and catch up with friends. Having a free period before and after lunch on Mondays has been nice for me and other students if they choose to do that.
