Teachers: Not every teacher is able to take control unlike others.

Extracurriculars: There are no sports at CIBA; all sports are done through East Hartford High School, which is next door. There are minimum clubs at CIBA, but many community service opportunities. There is no musical program at CIBA and there is no theater. There is one sports club: golf.

Overall Experience: The only saving grace for this school for me is the art and english programs. These classes are fun, engaging, and educational. Although, there is usually unnecessary IB work requirements for both of these classes. Not to mention, you go through 4 years now of IB training and only around 20% of the students in the class revive the IB diploma. The rest of the class do not receive credits for college, acknowledgment, nothing besides the ability to write a decent essay in a small period of time. This school is only unique in how ridiculous the rules and requirements are in it. The principal and most of the staff have no respect for students and their space what so ever. The rules are unnecessary and should belong in an elementary school rather than the "number 1 high school in America". I would never go to this school again; in fact, I would pay to not have to.

Teachers: There are about three teachers that I can think of that actually make me feel comfortable and happy; yet, I do not understand their lessons. There are two classes that I really like: Art and Mathematical Studies. The art teacher is fantastic and helpful and kind, she is different than every other teacher at this school, and I can understand her class very well. As for math, it is taught by another kind teacher, yet I have trouble understanding the material sometimes. The teaching styles are confusing and offer little direction. There is very minimum interest or care for students, beside the teacher's favorite. Most of the teachers seem quite knowledgeable but they do not use it to the best of their advantages. The grading is tough and inconsistent. The communication skills are lacking. Also, the work is too much, does not help with learning, and is hard to complete. The majority of students at this school are not fond of the teachers. Also, there is no space or freedom given at this school; the students are treated with little respect and like elementary schoolers, 90% of the teachers are rude, not happy to be in class and be teaching, and talk negatively about students behind their backs. There is little being done for students with 504 plans.

Extracurriculars: Overall, the curriculum that CIBA offers, although extremely rigorous and challenging, really helps students grow and develop into well rounded, thoughtful and accepting people. The teachers are very helpful and understanding, and as long as you remain respectful of them will do everything in their power to help you. The extracurriculars show the passion and school spirit that CIBA has, and the encouragement from staff and fellow peers to work through and continue with the program is uncanny to that of any other school. The small grades offer very close peer relationships, and I have made two of my closest friends at CIBA. I honestly would always take the decision to go back to CIBA if asked to relive my high-school experience.
