Health & Safety: Cyprus has never really had extreme issues with health or safety, but in the case that it did, it would be unprepared or even unable to handle the situation(s) very well.

Extracurriculars: Cyprus has a lot of sports of which students can be involved with, however at least a quarter of those students, on average, aren't committed to the sport and do not fully stand by or see eye to eye with coach's and/or other players. Cyprus therefore has had a reputation for poor athletic departments recently.

Overall Experience: I'm a senior and I've grown very comfortable with the environment, but then again it is filled with subpar students and a couple of trouble makers who occasionally manipulate other students. It's a "black hole" as some fellow students have put it, nevertheless there are students who shine despite the school's tarnished reputation. Cyprus is a work in progress.

Teachers: Most teachers at the Cyprus, notably the AP teachers, have what it takes to effectively teach their classes and maintain a superior level of learning among their students. However, most just barely do enough to keep their classes running smoothly and fail to enrich students' lives.

Health & Safety: In my opinion the security and teaching staff focuses more on irrelevant things. For example, if a teacher who doesn't have or use a hallpass allows you to go to the bathroom, office, career center, etc, they will start to ask questions and won't let do anything; some even make you walk all they way back to the classroom and won't let you go until they hear the teacher say it is okay. This has happened to me many times and it is mostly when the bell is going to ring in about 10-5 minutes.

However, other problems aren't addressed. I notice people who bring and use drugs and alcohol on school ground, and no one tells them anything. Probably because they staff hasn't noticed. But that is the problem I'm referring to! Isntead of annoying those students who try to succed they should start focusing on the obvious threats, not on the little Latina girl who needed to get a copy of her transcript for a scholarship application at almost the end of school because she didn't want to miss any of her classes and has to take the bus, so she cannot stay after school.
