I love Cyprus! It has its problems, but the social environment is the best I've ever seen. We don't always get along, but our students as a whole are much more accepting and courteous to each other than at any other High school I've have visited. I could not have asked for a better experience for my high school years. Cyprus has been around for nearly 100 years, however, so It is badly in need of a rebuild.

In my opinion the security and teaching staff focuses more on irrelevant things. For example, if a teacher who doesn't have or use a hallpass allows you to go to the bathroom, office, career center, etc, they will start to ask questions and won't let do anything; some even make you walk all they way back to the classroom and won't let you go until they hear the teacher say it is okay. This has happened to me many times and it is mostly when the bell is going to ring in about 10-5 minutes.

However, other problems aren't addressed. I notice people who bring and use drugs and alcohol on school ground, and no one tells them anything. Probably because they staff hasn't noticed. But that is the problem I'm referring to! Isntead of annoying those students who try to succed they should start focusing on the obvious threats, not on the little Latina girl who needed to get a copy of her transcript for a scholarship application at almost the end of school because she didn't want to miss any of her classes and has to take the bus, so she cannot stay after school.

Cyprus High School is a school that I would rate as average overall. The most positive aspects of this school, in my opinion, would be the staff and homework resources. The staff is incredibly encouraging and helpful, and they are very patient with students who function on different academic levels. Many teachers are available after school for homework help, which is a much depended upon resource. The library is another great resource that Cyprus has available to students. Their hours before and after school insures that any homework resources needed, online or other, is available during students free time. This again is helpful. The most negative aspect of Cyprus High, in my opinion, would involve the variety of clubs. Clubs at Cyprus High are few, and they do not have a lot of variety. The creation of more diverse clubs would greatly enhance the appeal of Cyprus High's after school programs.
