I have attended school in the New Haven district for my entire High School years. The school has a lot of diversity which is what drew me here from my small town high school where there was close to none. It offers the potential to create clubs and activities and we have many opportunities and resources available to us as long as we participate in our studies and keep our grades up. Our staff and faculty is like extended family. The fighting is definitely something that needs to be kept more in check but other than that, I'm sure it's like any other High School.
My family and I have been a part of the New Haven School District since we moved in my 4th-grade year and since then my parents and I have been dealing with the best and the worst of the way the School District handles the concerns of the educational system. For one, I have had over twenty-five total teachers throughout my eight years in the school district, and of course there is always a teacher that a student doesn't get a long with or never sees eye-to-eye with, but when I look back, each teacher's preparation, enthusiasm and the pride they took in their jobs is undeniable. A few of the small instances when my parents had grown frustrated with the school system, some I might have been too young to care, are the bussing situation, same classmates year to year, and each of the schools occasionally having different schedules. As far as the bus problems there has been poor communication and busses just not showing up on many different occasions.
Its been very good so far, havent experienced bullying or anything bad, although the bathrooms are quite smelly and stinks of drugs. The teachers are super helpful and outgoing and respectful, they're always there to help you out.
