Extracurriculars: Dakota Ridge has a wide variety of clubs, activities and sports. Sports are available Fall, Winter and Spring along with Summer sport camps through out most of the Summer. Many after school activities are held such as Gay-Straight Alliance and BASIC (Brothers and Sister in Christ) and many more. Sports are definitely the most popular activities and require more commitment than after school clubs. Band, Orchestra and Theater are also offered at this school. Administration supports these activities and the students in them in every way that they can.

Overall Experience: I would certainly choose Dakota Ridge again if I could do it all over. Throughout my four years there, I had all the loving support and confidence from every teacher and counselor. In History I was pushed to work harder for knowledge. He only lectured and never used an outline or powerpoint which demonstrated his love for teaching. My History teacher was also my coach and pushed me to be a better athlete. This gave me the confidence I needed to succeed in the real world. My Spanish teacher supported me in my shyness and helped me to reach out and speak with native Spanish speakers. She loved the language but did not care about our grade in the class, rather how much we grew. She was caring and understanding when I had personal problems come up. This is the love and support that makes this school unique and was present with all of my teachers during my high school career.

Teachers: Many of the teachers at Dakota Ridge are very involved with their students. Many of the staff set up extra curricular activities such as prom or are involved in some way or the other including leading a Theory of Knowledge club or being a Soccer coach. Teacher are always around if a student is struggling, emotionally or educationally. Teacher and counselors at Dakota Ridge are very interested in how to make students' lives better. The staff there understands that high school is a difficult time from break ups to AP and honors classes and want to help students feel safe and successful.

Health & Safety: The health and safety policies are amazing. Every staff member is dedicated to making students feel safe in the school. There is always a place for the student to go to make them feel better about a situation. Safety is something that is valued at Dakota Ridge, whether it be in social situations or health reasons. I had a health condition that I needed the school to know about my senior year. My counselor helped me type out an email to send to all of my teachers and the school nurse to notify them about missing classes. Teachers and staff put your well being first in every situation.

Extracurriculars: Dakota Ridge has a wide variety of extra curricular activities. They range from being on the cheer team to being on the football team. Dakota Ridge offers all of the typical sports. However, what sets Dakota apart from other schools are the clubs that are offered. The gay straight alliance is a club that has a teacher support. All clubs have at least one teacher who is there for them after school to support. Teachers are also open to creating new clubs with students, so everyone feels welcome. There is a great atmosphere for extra-curricular activities, my favorite being student government, led by Keary Sullivan.
