Overall Experience: I have been fortunate enough to have teachers that are willing to help and be supportive, not only in class, but outside of class. Ones who are willing to take time out of their own to help you with a homework question, help with the application process or even with a personal problem. Not everyone is lucky enough to get these few and far between teachers, but the ones who do see the difference between them and the others.

One teacher in particular, Mr. Robert Calbeck, has been an inspiration for myself and my peers. He has willingly taken time out of his nights at home to proof read my applications, write me a letter of recommendation and offer extended help whether it be a math question, although I am no longer in his class, or personal help. It has been extremely helpful having someone who has went through college be there through the application process since I am going to be the first one in my family to go to college. Not only does it make it less stressful, but makes things that I would not know how to do on my own, easier.

Overall Experience: My experience here has been a roller-coaster ride. The students that enter this school get worse each year. This school is in a district that appears to be falling to pieces. The best thing at this school has been my AP teachers, they actually know how to teach and create a positive rapport with their students.

Overall Experience: Douglas County High School was a very average experience. If it wasn't for my class, I can't say that I'd enjoy it as much. The administration is sub par at best and felt like they did not care for the students whatsoever. Sometimes administration would get too involved with your personal life. There were many times where students would get called into the office for pictures on Instagram or Twitter that the administration would use to try to figure out information about who threw parties and who was involved. It seemed a bit overboard considering there are many other issues within the school that were never addressed. A big thing that I noticed is that they seem to only care if you graduate high school, rather than prepare you for your future. However, there are some teachers that went above and beyond to help students succeed. In Colorado, violent threats are very prominent. During my senior year, there were several threats to students and DC did a very good job at making sure that we would be safe. They brought in 30 or so cops to patrol the hallways and doors which made us feel as if nothing was going to happen during a very scary time. I was in several clubs and I really wished they had put more funding into the clubs so that more people would join and notice them. The campus is old but nice, it is two buildings and it's nice to be able to go outside throughout your day. Some of my favorite experiences were sporting events, prom, homecoming week, off campus lunch, off hours and senior year was amazing.

Overall good experience, wouldn't go back but I enjoyed my time there.
