Administration & Policies: Personally, I had negative experiences with my school principal. He refused to let me take an extra English credit, although it was more than possible to let me. He was incredibly rude to myself and my parents at this time. I know of a few other students that had issues with the principal, although he seemed to be generally liked by students at my school. The guidance counselor I was assigned to was always helpful and sweet, she would go out of her way to find solutions for any problem I presented her with. As far as policies go, all rules were strictly enforced. Security guards would make sure no students would be wearing hats and the doors leading to classrooms during lunch time were locked to prevent students from eating there and disrupting classes.

Teachers: Nearly all of my teachers in high school were not only great at what they did, but also passionate about the topic and teaching it to students. My teachers were very engaging with the class and were easy to reach for help. My school also offered "academic assistance" twice a week in which students were able to come in to school before classes started to receive additional help from the teachers themselves. Students could also make up tests during this time.

Extracurriculars: I did not participate in any clubs or organizations at my high school. The few clubs I have heard about seemed to be enjoyed by students, but lacked funding and quality. Students were working with what was left over by other classes and were on a limited budget. Although the school kept clubs on a low budget, the teachers involved were welcoming and had an excellent relationship with the students. The teachers also reached out to other students to gain more members for their clubs.

Educational Outcomes: Overall, I would say my high school did a poor job in preparing me for college and the "real world". My school did not guide nor assist me, as well as most other students, with my future after high school. By the time an administrator spoke to myself and my classmates about applying for college, most college application deadlines were nearing and the programs used to help high school students choose colleges they would be interested in was not helpful to me whatsoever. Myself and my parents had to find help outside of my school in order to gain knowledge of the application process. Despite being well underprepared, I am looking forward to attending the University of Colorado at Boulder this coming fall and am enjoying my time off of school.

Teachers: While attending this school I always felt welcomed and accepted by the teachers. I knew there was always an open-door policy to go and get help when I needed it, and I never felt judged or looked down upon because I was un-clear about a subject. No matter what time of day it was or what the subject was, each and every teacher was available and willing to help. They made time for me even when they were busy and I always left feeling better about the subjects I was unclear about.
