East is honestly a very good school, especially academically. Most students are very driven and want to be successful, and East encourages this. However, this leads to the biggest problem with the school, which is the extremely stressful and competitive environment. It's great that East offers so many advanced classes, yet kids overload themselves trying to take as many as possible. The only warning against this is a signature agreeing that you understand the course load on the registration sheet if you sign up for a certain amount of honors and AP's. The school doesn't very much discourage students taking on so many hard classes, and the teachers are fine sometimes giving hours of homework. The kids here become so immersed in school work, and think it's fine to do so, completing ignoring the need to "get out"- have a life outside of school, be social, etc. This focus on academics also causes disregard for many of the extracurricular clubs, and consequently many clubs don't actually "do" anything. Overall, there's so much stress on intelligence and academics, and pressure to do well, that it's toxic rather than encouraging.
Though it is important to know that East besides that is really a good school -there are great teachers, the administration generally tries to help and accommodate students, and there are tons of classes offered.
