Overall Experience: Overall, as an incoming sophomore transfer student I had a great time at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. I enjoyed taking art electives, some of my teachers, the athletics, and some of the classes.

Food: The food at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Arts and Performing Arts is appalling. The choices are grim, and often consist of either a soggy peanut butter sandwich or the daily, soggy vegetables and mystery meat. The salad bar is never fresh but rather contains plastic like lettuce, pickles, canned corn, canned string beans, and day old (hopefully not longer) grainy tomato slices. The snacks in the vending machines are just a little better and at least we know that there probably wont be hair in the packaged food. The lunchrooms in general are often overly crowed, the garbage system not actually separated, and the tables and floors littered.

Administration & Policies: The administration & policies at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts are not equal, and can often be biased. The "dean" who stays at the front of the school in the morning is friends with some students and allow them to enter with phones, headphones, and drinks, but others who aren't buddies with him have their phones taken away, their drinks thrown out, and their id's confiscated. It's unfair. Further, the principal administration is appalling. The principal, Dr. Lisa Mars, watched as I gasped for air asking for my inhaler and then walked away.

Sports & Fitness: Overall I find the sports & fitness at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts to be in bad shape. The equipment provided is mostly for boys (baseballs, boy basketballs, etc), and they are all in terrible, raggedy shape. The gym itself is falling apart. The ropes that are meant to be used to climb up are covered in dust and tearing apart, there are air pockets in the floor which, as the Senior Girls Basketball Captain, can verify that it calls for it to be really hard to play on it. Further, the weight room has beat up, and outdated equipment that are often impossible to use, and it is also very cramped for the amount of students that are meant to take the class.

Teachers: It honestly depends on the teacher. There are some teachers that are horrible at listening to their students, give us no respect, and don't care whether we have learned, and understood the topic before we move on. However there are some teachers that care the absolute utmost for their students. They check up on us, asking whether we understood the topic or not, and don't treat us like we're stupid. Further, some teachers even know when something is wrong whether it be social life or home life and go out of their way to help us.
