Fox Lane High School Reviews
Rating 3.98 out of 5 220 reviews
To be completely honest, my opinion on this school is rather complicated. On the one hand, FLHS really does have great teachers, programs, clubs, college readiness, etc, and the food is improving every day. However, the accessibility and support services do need some work. As a queer disabled student, I get harassed practically every day, and nothing is ever done about it. We do have counselors and social workers, but they don't do much about generalized bullying as there isn't one specific person to accuse. Even when there is one person, very little is done about it in a consequential way, and usually they get away with a slap on the wrist. I was sexually harassed by a student (now graduated) at this school and the most they could do was just tell my teachers not to put me in a group with him. I've found safe places within the building, but the general atmosphere is very clique-y and uncomfortable to be in. Great for cis het able-bodied neurotypical white kids, not so much for others.
Fox Lane High School is a rollercoaster of emotions and events. The guidnace Department and faculty have been exceptional during my senior year, but that not to say it has always been like this. I was a victim of severe bullying since elementary school and unfortunately BCSD, specifically Fox Lane did not handle it essentially at all.
During my time at Fox Lane High school, two of my years were taken off due to covid which affected a lot. I didn't get quite the college experience everyone gets but, the school definitely tried their best to get us to stay involved. Personally I didn't love it to its full potential but, I made of what I could. My first semester of freshman year was amazing, I had a lot of fun and connected with student and faculty to a great extent. Then that's when covid hit us, and my end of freshman year and sophomore year were taken from me, I would sit in my bed all day and just hear teachers lecture. Finally my junior and senior year were adjusted to be as normal as it possibly could. My senior year was my favorite years as I was able to indulge in many activities and have such great connections with my teachers. I graduated class of 2023 and I would just like to say that it was an upsetting moment and I wouldn't switch my high school ever.
