Geneva Middle School North Reviews

My middle school experience was very typical, good teachers and good friends. There was minimal to no bullying and the environment was very safe. The community was very close, and parents were heavily involved. However, the schools as mostly white, because of the area we live in. That wasn't an issue for me, and many lessons were race based and we learned how to love and accept people no matter the skin color. In my experience politics wasn't an issue, because no teachers voiced political opinions either way.
I’m not going to lie and say that this school isn’t safe from drugs, smoking, and violence, but if you have a child with special needs or a 504 this is not the school for you. First, an email was sent requesting simple accommodations for class placement. My daughter doesn’t have a lot of friends and has history with bullying so it was very important that she was placed in a class with her friend. I work in a school district so I understand how easy it is to follow up with these accommodations. They don’t start teaching foreign language until 8th grade. My daughter told me her friend wasn’t allowed to be placed in Spanish class because of his IEP. Ridiculous and extremely discriminatory. All students are supposed to have access to foreign language classes. This school clearly labels all kids with IEP’s and 504’s as stupid. Most of the teachers are lazy. We are not sending my daughter to this school after this year. I am sorry for her friend who will be stripped from opportunities.
I am a current student there. Teachers are excellent, and kids are nice. Being separated from friends pf separate teams is hard, but you get to see them at lunch.
