Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science & Technology Reviews
Rating 4.19 out of 5 523 reviews
The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science & Technology has been both a blessing and a bother to attend. On one side, it is a school that has gifted me with many opportunities my home high school may not have. I have been given internship opportunities, I have conducted research, I receive special seminars and more. The diversity as well it outstanding as it is one of the most diverse schools in Gwinnett County. On the flip side, I wish it had somewhat of the traditional high school feel. While yes, it is a school for STEM and that is its main focus, I still wish we had more school spirit. Maybe if we had sports, the students in the school could connect more. I also do believe that there is toxicity within the students themselves, especially with comparing grades and just being clique-y in general; however, that is to be expected with any group of teenagers.
My overall experience with Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science & Technology (GSMST) has been incredibly exciting and enriching. The school's rigorous academic program challenged me to push myself and strive for excellence in all aspects of my education. The diverse student body and dedicated teachers created a stimulating learning environment that fostered collaboration and critical thinking. From participating in STEM competitions to conducting research projects, I have gained valuable knowledge and skills that have prepared me for future academic and professional endeavors. My time at GSMST has been nothing short of transformative, and I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped me into a well-rounded and intellectually curious individual.
For the most part, GSMST was a very nice school to attend. The staff and teachers are nice and very supportive of their students. I’ve personally had many teachers who offer to give extensions or makeups if a student is getting too stressed or have something going on at home. The school itself offers many chances for others to get help from staff or get tutoring from teachers and peers. GSMST also offers many chances for students to build communities with each other: wellness days, clubs, and after school games. Though the workload can become excessive at times, it does work to prepare for college and helps to build valuable skills for the future. The staff still works to improve workload though, and make it a little easier for the students to succeed. Overall, it’s a fun school to attend and offers a very special experience that’s hard to find in other schools.
