Everyone sees the rankings of this school and wants to attend. It's a great education if you want to go deep into technology but it leaves a lot to be desired. Many of the classes that matter are actually hit-or-miss. There is a ton of pressure -a TON - which I personally like. The environment is collaborative if you are part of the culture that invites you in. There are a ton of geeks here but within that, there's a hierarchy. It feels very much like a caste system. Will you learn a ton? Possibly, it's all about what you put in. Will you get into an Ivy league? Probably not. The admissions process for colleges are strange and many people from regular public schools get in before kids from here. It's true. So if you want to attend to learn, then go here. If you want a more well-rounded experience and a chance to get into your top school - go to a regular public school, do extremely well and you'll probably have a shot.
My experience at HTHS was pretty great. Sure, the teachers and programs are great, but the best thing about the school is the people. You get to meet and collaborate with the smartest people in your area of New Jersey, and it's a one of a kind experience that can help you make lifetime connections. No matter where you end up in college, HTHS can help you make the connections and get the knowledge you need to succeed no mater what
Overall a good school for STEM-interested students, has a lot of good resources and ways to prepare for college
