Overall Experience: Every teacher here wants the students to succeed. They will structure their classes in ways that help their students learn and retain the material in an easy way. The teachers, along with other resources, are available for outside help for those who are still struggling.

Overall Experience: I currently attend HPHS, and I can say that the courses are pretty challenging, even as far into the school year as I am right now. But, it's really great that we get off-labs and free periods so we have more free time and time to relax, study, or do homework before a class. The amount of homework that we get is pretty bad as well, especially because they hard-press on us to join clubs and sports. HPHS is also pretty much entirely white and Jewish, as with most other North Shore schools.

Overall Experience: HPHS is a wonderful school academically. It offers a lot of AP and Honors classes that will challenge you, which is generally a good thing but the students are competitive. However, socially, it's not exactly a diverse community. While we do have a sizable latino population, there is de facto segregation in terms of the classes they take, and where they hang out in the school. The school's black population exists but is pretty small.

One of the best things about HPHS is FOCUS, an every other year program that's 3 days and 4 nights all about all aspects of the arts. You only have three classes for those days, and you spend the rest of you time going to performances, listening to professionals talk about their field, making glass or word-working projects, and a bunch of other stuff.

Another plus is Charity Drive. A charity is selected by the student body, and then, during the entire month of February, the school and the community raise money for that charity. Last year, HPHS raised over $150,000 for Bear Necessities.

Overall Experience: My overall high school experience has been okay. Some of the most identifiable things with Highland Park high school can be: the rude cafeteria staff, cockroach problem, and FOCUS on the arts. However, more often than not, the pros outweigh the cons. I have experienced both the pros and the cons to Highland Park. May I note, I experienced these pros and cons as someone who is not "visibly" a minority. Had I been a more noticeable minority, then I am sure the cons would had outweighed the pros.

Overall Experience: Great things like FOCUS and the music program, but it's such a competitive environment.
