Overall Experience: I would probably choose to go to this school again because it is a public school and of very good quality, but I do have both good and bad experiences. There is entirely too much focus on sports as opposed to the arts and other activities, especially where budget is concerned. As a school in the wealthiest county in the state, there is no reason why money should be an issue, but it is. For example, the football field and bleachers (inside and out) are impeccable, the uniforms are brand new, and each senior on the team even has a blown-up picture of himself in the Commons area. The theatre department, however, works with 40+ disfunctional seats in the auditorium, an old sound system, as well as costumes and set pieces reused year after year even with high participation fees, yet still manages to create the most extraordinary and moving productions I've ever had the privilege to be in.

Teachers: Most teachers are clearly passionate about the subjects they teach and genuinely care about the success of their students. There are one or two teachers who don't have consistent teaching methods or value the input and ideas of their students, but these are outliers. In my nearly four years at this school, I've been privileged to have highly intelligent and engaging instructors who care both about improving their students as scholars and as people.

Student Culture & Diversity: It is a middle class southern school in which the majority of the student population is Caucasian and Christian. In general, the student are quite accepting other others and do not discriminate racially.

Academics: The academics are good and most teachers are fairly good at their jobs. Advanced placements classes are available, although with a heavy emphasis on the math and sciences. Some AP classes entail a large workload, which becomes extreme when you take multiple, but with good time management is still manageable.

Health & Safety: I really have not had any problems with the school safety. However, last year the security had to be kicked up a notch due to several bomb threats and kill lists being published in bathrooms. However, all of these incidents were false alarms as no harm came to any students or faculty. Since I have been at this school I have only witnessed three drug sweeps, which I feel is not an outrageous number.
