Health & Safety: The drug and alcohol abuse by the students at this school is unbelievable. Parents think they're taking their kids away from drugs but in reality they are throwing drugs at them every time they write a tuition check. Every time there's a party I am legitimately amazed that students make it out of the weekend alive. It isn't a purely student related problem though, on the senior class trip the chaperones were drunk as soon as we got to Florida and weren't sober again until we landed back in New York. A majority of the student body suffers from depression but the counsellors/nurse either don't care enough or just aren't good enough to pick up the blatant signs of mental illness present in the student body.

Extracurriculars: The drama club usually puts on pretty good performances, but that's because they have moderators that actually care. NHS is literally a joke, everyone lies about their hours and every year NHS plans and then skips a club wide service project

Overall Experience: The guidance department is like a derailed train, they are incredibly prone to losing your paperwork and even more prone to blaming you for their incompetence. Some teachers are great but most seem like they are winging every lesson. Football and Boys basketball are the only sports people care about, even though we lost ALL our good players. Most clubs are half assed *cough* NHS *cough* I hate Burke but I think I would've hated the other schools in the area more, so it's okay

Teachers: If you are lucky you'll have one of the rare gems, a good teacher, of Burke. There are a handful of great teachers who care about engaging their students and work tirelessly to help their students learn. These teachers are so good because they are relatively young and as a result haven't become jaded (yet) after experiencing the rampant institutional incompetency at the school. While there are these naïve young teachers there are also department chairs who end up dropping half of the material on their syllabuses because they spent the first 20 minutes of every class enjoying some diet Sunkist and ignoring students. Most teachers wait until the day grades are due to grade all of their students' assignments so the kids have no opportunity to bring their grade up, or to even prepare their parents for what their average may be.
