Kilgore High School is a school that is flawed in many ways, but makes up for it in many positive ways. Starting off with the not so good stuff, the old school is falling apart. In some parts there are holes in the floor, and there is always water damage in the ceilings. We still have chalkboard in most of the classrooms. The city of Kilgore is working on building a new high school, so those problems will hopefully be fixed for students to come. Now this school has an amazing staff that helps the students all they can. I will admit, there are some teachers the students don't like. But the majority of teachers and faculty here are fantastic. They are engaging with their students, and for me personally I feel safe with all of my teachers here. Kilgore High School to me is an amazing school. Yes, it has its flaws, but it is where I want to be.
Best parts are that the students have ways to learn more about opportunities outside of school. Also many different clubs
Sports wise, it is the best. Academically, it is not the best. Compared to other schools you learn very little and they do not prepare you very well. There are a few very talented teachers that I was grateful of having, but I also had many others who did not teach. There are many who do not enforce you to do your assignments and others who will put in good grades over an assignment you did not complete. Again, there are many teachers who take their job very seriously and I could have a long list of them, but you are not in luck all of the time.
