Student Culture & Diversity: My school is very diverse. We have people from all kinds of walks of life and everyone is very accepting for the most part. My school has a gay-straight alliance, Latino orgullo club, international cooking club, and other clubs and organizations that promote a well-rounded and friendly atmosphere. However, many students don't participate in clubs or after school activities.

Academics: Most teachers hand out a syllabus at the beginning of the year to make sure students know the class expectations and are on board with the work load. Many teachers also write the nightly homework assignment somewhere on the board so that students can write them down in their planners. There are also many classes to choose from and different levels of difficulty including regular, honors, and AP courses.

Health & Safety: At my school, there are security guards who are always around making sure everyone is safe. However, there are frequent physical fights at my school that result in suspensions and expulsions. I feel that there are better ways to resolve the issue, like restorative justice practices and mindfulness programs.

There is also a lot of bullying and theft.

Extracurriculars: My school offers a lot of different sports for boys and girls but one thing I've noticed is that our athletic department values the boy's sports more than the girl's. The distribution of funding to each sport is unfair, it seems as though the more popular sports get the most funding and recognition.

Even though our school offers multiple clubs and after school activities, the quality of them is not great. There is after school homework club where students can get help from tutors but sometimes there aren't enough tutors to help everyone out. In addition to this, clubs seem to have limited funding and administration support.

Overall Experience: I really like my school because it's very diverse. We have students from all backgrounds and different walks of life that enrich our student community and make learning more fun and interesting.
