Student Culture & Diversity: The student culture and diversity at Lakota East is incredible. Every student is looking out for each other no matter who you are. Everyone is friendly and approachable and it doesn't matter if you're a part of a clique or different social group. Everyone is accepted by every one. Be it ethnic/racial or sexual orientation, no one cares what you prefer. We care about being friendly and protecting one another. No one peer pressures anyone into doing something bad. New students come into Lakota East and quickly make friends. If you don't know where to sit at the cafeteria, you can walk up to a girl in your first bell math class and she'll make a spot at the table for you. It doesn't matter who you are or where you come from. The student body is truly incredible.

Extracurriculars: There is an extracurricular at Lakota East for every kind of person. We have sports, we have arts, we have chess, robotics, the Gay-Straight Alliance, language clubs, academic clubs, and MANY more. I personally was in the Honor Society, Spanish Club, and Gay-Straight Alliance. The meetings were right after school and usually didn't interfere with each other. The fees were low, around ten dollars a club, and students had the option of purchasing things like t-shirts to raise money for their club. Teachers and staff were also heavily involved in clubs. Students also could start their own clubs, after getting it approved by the principal of course. Our student body is extremely diverse and there are a vast amount of clubs and extracurriculars offered.

Teachers: The teachers are wonderful. They are very clear about communicating their grading and other academic policies and expectations. The teachers are always willing to help and will typically come up to the student outside of class to offer help if the student is struggling, or praise a student who is excelling. The teachers are patient and understanding and will go out of their way to help a student. At the same time, their classes are challenging and encourage students to think about what they are leaning and apply it to real life. Teaching styles are diverse, allowing all students to find the right fit. Many of the teachers are also involved in clubs, sports, or some out of school activity and engage with students out of the classroom.

Health & Safety: Lakota East is always on top of topics like bullying, personal, safety, security measures, the nurse, etc. Three times a year, the students undergo A.L.I.C.E. training where students learn how to handle an active shooter. The staff are all friendly and approachable about any bullying that may occur. Our school nurse is well equipped and knowledgeable. The cafeteria is frequently cleaned and the food is far above "cafeteria food". The janitorial staff really does an amazing job keeping the school clean and cleaning up messes the instant they occur. The school is very safe. During school hours, anyone entering the building must come through the office and is "buzzed in" through two separate doors by a secretary. Before and after school hours (when students are arriving/leaving), the principal herself along with multiple other staff are greeting students as they walk in and keeping an alert for potential safety issues. Lakota East has its own police officer who is there daily. Deputy Doug has extensive training and the students take him and the staff very seriously.

Health & Safety: I found this school to be secure all throughout the days I have been attending. They always had officers within the school and outside the school area.
