Lapeer High School prepares students for college. Lapeer's selection of AP classes allows students to earn college credit in high school while simultaneously raising their GPA. I have taken 6 AP classes and am grateful for this opportunity. One of Lapeer's highest priorities is college preparedness. Taking time to introduce Juniors to scholarships and making sure that Seniors can file their FSA ID, there should be no reason for a graduate to not receive financial aid. This push is what led me to seek more scholarships to lighten the financial burden of tuition.
The school, however, has a great shortcoming in its facility. The building is composed of one Main Hall with all the classrooms and lockers held within the hallways that stem from it. There is no way to reach the other classrooms except through this main hallway. It gets extremely crowded as all students must use this hallway during passing time but fixing this minor inconvenience would be a poor use of funding.

My high school is alright, it is neither great or terrible. The school offers many different extracurricular activities and clubs however the school itself is an older building so the conditions aren't always ideal for learning.
My overall experience with this school isn't particularly bad, but there are some things that I feel could change. The guidance counseling staff are very helpful and try their best to reach every student and get them the help they need. However, they seem to be understaffed and spend a lot of the time working schedules and administrative work rather than helping students mentally. I feel that this could be partially fixed by hiring a/ school therapist(s) to focus more on the student body and how they are handling their personal and academic lives.
