I have honestly enjoyed my time here at this school. All the students and teachers are extremely welcoming and offer support for anything when needed. The students and staff have shown me multiple times that I could rely on them when needed and they have also done a very good job to prepare me for college. Although majority of the students here are Hispanic, the school has done a very good job of trying to be inclusive to the students who may identify with other races and ethnicities. No one gets left out or forgotten here and its honestly one of my favorite things about the school. Everyone is involved in something and we are all different so we get to learn from each other as well.
I attended Macarthur High School from my freshman year to my senior year. My great experience has sprouted through my experience volunteering in certain clubs I was a member and an officer of. I was a member and officer for clubs such as FCCLA, HOSA, and NTHS. These clubs provided countless volunteering hours as well as great memories. Other than clubs, another thing that would add to my overall experience would be the events this school provides. Almost every month, our student council works alongside our assistant principals to host activities such as pep rallies, dress-up weeks, and activities involving our parents.
MacArthur was overall not a terrible school. They offered rigourous courses that prepared me for college. They were adamant about college and wanted to make sure everyone had a path after graduation. The administration wasn't the worst, but they worried too much about things that weren't important. Compared to worrying about things that were important such as safety issues. The funding isn't the best and I felt most of it went to athletics even though the teams were not that good. The school food is not the best although I don't think that was the schools fault. I would like to see the school spirit change. Students aren't that fond of school spirit and I believe it's because of the school's boring spirit weeks and student activities.
