Martinsburg was functional enough. I made it through high school and was prepared enough for college, but honestly? The school is kind of falling into disrepair. Small changes are slowly being made, new gym floor, new turf on the field, money is being put towards an auditorium renovation. But the bathrooms could really use help. The roof needs looked at. I had a class my junior year where the ceiling tile filled with water and flooded the room. Teachers in Berkeley County also should definitely be paid more. They deserve so much.
My school lacks a certain curriculum that prepares us for college material. To be moderately prepared, you must take AP courses as well as many dual enrollment courses. I feel that the traditional classes lack that sense of learning. The school administration and most teachers I have encountered are welcoming over the years. I have made many relationships with many friends and faculty at the school to the point where I am in a comfortable situation. When I have question I am confident that I will be helped.
My experience at Martinsburg for the past 4 years have been good. This school has brought me many friendships and lot of memories. My favorite parts of this school is how close students and faculty are with each other and how we always show up to support our sports teams. I don’t have anything really negative to say, but i would love to see changes in the school spirit and the participation in activities. This year the changes have started with new classes and new faculty stepping up to make these changes happen.
