Health & Safety: I honestly don't know whether the school is safe. We never know if a real emergency is happening, because the past 2 real bomb threats that were made, we were told they were drills. Aside from that, only the front doors to the school are locked. All side doors and back doors remain unlocked. Classroom doors are supposed to be locked but not enforced and only locked by the teachers that care. Security cameras exist but aren't monitor. An armed deputy, a Sgt with the Aiken County Sheriffs Office, dubbed with the title School Resource Officer, does absolutely nothing. The only time he comes out of his office is if there's a fight or someone has done something illegal. He adds no safety to the school. A school nurse, if very rarely available. A student very obviously had a broken arm and was told to go back to class. Staff have little or no first aid training and have this had almost caused further harm due to improper first aid. Drug sweeps happen once a year and the only time any other sweeps happen are if someone reports that they heard a student say they had a gun or are making threats to shoot up the school. ID's are enforced but the way they are enforced does not increase the safety of the school at all.

Extracurriculars: With the exception of sports, everything else is horrible. All funding goes to the sports teams. No support if given to anything of the arts. Band receives no funding but the level of commitment for it and the sports teams are fairly high. Any other clubs, such a Key Club, Beta Club, Student Council, etc, do absolutely nothing. I was a Beta Club member for a year and we did absolutely nothing. We were told to do 1,000 hours of service and that we had to turn them in at the end of the year. We weren't given any suggestions on what to do, we weren't ever involved with anything, the Beta Club did nothing as a whole to the better the CSRA or Midland Valley Community. Student Council is only a popularity contest and is just a title. The President literally does nothing but has nothing to do, no meetings to go to, and nothing they could do if they tried. Administrators rarely support anything other than sports unless you go out of your way to do something that makes the school look better than others in the county. The one time administrators have given support to the Band, was when we got invited to the Philidelphia Thanksgiving Parade. Even then, not much was given. Administrators expect the band, to show up at football games, but the has to raise their own money and then pay for the buses to go. Sports teams, on the other hand, have their own bus so they don't have to pay for anything.
