Morgantown High is a school filled with a lot of its historical background. Despite the ever growing student population, the school is rather larger than other high schools in West Virginia. Like all high schools, Morgantown High does have its flaws. Residing in a state such as West Virginia, Morgantown's athletic teams, specifically football, have a lot of importance to the school and can often cause other aspects to be overlooked such as the more arts department. Besides the average flaws, it has a good educational basis and lots of opportunity for success. I will not especially miss the school entirely but while I am here, I can tolerate it.

As a student at Morgantown High School, I can honestly say I have received the best education I could ask for. I have had well educated, highly motivated teachers all four years of high school. Every teacher I have had has been inspiring and I strove to make them proud every class period. Students complain about homework and how high their stress levels are, me being one of those students, but the high work load makes students even more successful. I feel as though attending Morgantown High School is something to be proud of both academically and athletically.

The parents here are not the greatest. Yes, there are some incredible parents who have had a tremendous impact on the school. Yet there are also parents who are far too involved, abusive, or even completely absent. The overcompetitive parents have been known to behave like high schoolers themselves (namely, in a negative way) when interacting with children outside of their own, or bullying teachers and/or administrators when they don't get their way- even when they're in the wrong. Cheaters get off the hook, and slackers get special treatment because of parental influence.

As for the other types, well, MHS has its fair share of parents who abuse or neglect their children. This leads to negative effects on their children and those around them. Doesn't every school?
