I was enrolled in the Northeast magnet program, so my experience was different than others. Magnet students were more well-mannered, cared more about studies, and were more well-behaved. We generally had classes in the basement while "regular" northeast students took over the upper floors. I liked how we were separated because the students upstairs were unfocused and the classes I had with them were distracting. One thing I definitely noticed was that magnet teachers cared more about the success of the students, while regular northeast teachers barely cared.
I would definitely recommend incoming students to take advantage of all the extra-curricular activities. Many other high schools don't have a band, sports, or cheer leading team. Students should try to make their time worthwhile by joining clubs and social groups. This is the best way to meet new people. If I could do it all over again I would definitely strive to be more involved. Overall, I think if I was more involved I would have had a better experience. However, I'm still friends with some of the students I met at Northeast, so I'm grateful.
