Northwood High School Reviews
Rating 3.7 out of 5 245 reviews
When I was at the school, a lot of the experience depended on how much effort you put in. If you truly cared, teachers were amazing and you could get along well with them, and clubs were fantastic. The arts were also incredible, and people were so supportive within them. There was a decent variety of classes and clubs offered and more were being created constantly to provide even more opportunities. My counselor was also actually pretty helpful, and administration was very present and supportive, and had a lot of school spirit. The main thing that I had wished changed while I was there was the leaning towards the easier, "just get better credits and don't care about the material" dual enrollment community college courses and away from the more academically beneficial ap courses. Other than that, I loved the balance I found between academics, athletics, and arts.
At Northwood there is a large variety of classes and extracurriculars available to students. Students are supported by teachers, coaches, and administration to pursue their goals. I would change the discipline. Students run wild without many consequences, and it can affect the whole student body.
My last two years at Northwood were my most memorable. Covid hit when I was a freshman so I spent the first half of high school online. Lots of great teachers but most ended up leaving due to: better job opportunities, issues with administrators or other staff, etc. Another issue that was prominent was teachers having to provide supplies out of their own pockets. Despite this, there were lots of different clubs, sports, and activities happening.
