Health & Safety: I know a girl who brought vodka to school, a decision I can't see the logic to. Besides an alcohol problem, the school is mostly safe.

Administration & Policies: The policies are not enforced consistently, but when they are enforced, the punishment is harsh. This system doesn't really work, as everyone is unhappy. The teachers are frustrated that students don't follow the rules, and the students are upset at severe punishments.

Sports & Fitness: While the people involved in sports are exceptional, the school's facilities are severely lacking. However, the school district is remodeling this year.

Teachers: The AP Biology teacher, Mrs. Knight, is fantastic. While many think she is a difficult and harsh teacher, I've realized her teaching style is what has inspired me to study biology as a career. She helps people reach their potential. All the AP teachers are like that, so those serious about college and learning really do learn a lot.

Extracurriculars: The music and arts is top-notch. The jazz band, audition choir, and advanced orchestra seldom get lower than first place at Adjudications. This year, the jazz band got a perfect scoring from all three judges there. The theatre productions perform for full houses for almost every showing. No one represents the arts program better than Doug Sweetland, a State College Area High School Alumni who now animates for Pixar.
