Health & Safety: There are two school nurses, one is okay, the other sucks. They cant really do anything besides give you crackers and write a note for you to go back to class. We have security officers that monitor the school and parking lot areas, so I feel pretty safe in that aspect. One girl last year actually killed herself at school because of bullying...I haven't ever been bullied, that I know of, but I know other people have. Other than that, the school is pretty safe, no drug dealing or gangs or anything

Food: The food is fine, its not a five star restaurant, but it's enough to where the kids don't starve.

Administration & Policies: Everyone knows that the principle at Sussex Technical High School is not worth anything, the majority of students are more qualified than he is. He walks around and does nothing, he talks like a thug, he's basically illiterate. He isn't involved in squat, and he is barely seen by students, but when we do see him, he's acting like a child, not like an authoritative figure. On the other hand, the guidance counselors are amazing and so is the office staff. The school has a zero tolerance policy on bullying, so that's never really a problem, I've only heard of maybe one fight happening a year since I've been there and the staff were quick to take care of it. As far as the dress code goes, it was fixed this year to where girls can wear yoga pants (because we wore them so much last year, administration stopped caring and just let us wear them, hallelujah). Attendance is fine, we are allowed to have 18 unexcused absences before we are in danger of not graduating, 18 is a generous number. And the only other controversial policy was the rule against cell phone use, but that rule was lifted this year along with the yoga pant rule.

Sports & Fitness: I play volleyball on a daily basis, and it is always fun to be around teammates and the team. The people who are involved in sports typically get along well with their teammates, there is hardly ever confrontation from an athletic standpoint. Gym class is okay as far as mandatory athletic participation...I'd rather do something like yoga or aerobics than gym, but that's okay. The athletic equipment is pretty good as far as I can tell. However, the volleyball team gets the short end of the straw year after year regarding equipment. We were skipped for new jerseys three years in a row (the program is only 5 years old) and we had to beg on our hands and knees for 10 new volleyballs. But the nets are great and the practice space is great. The fans and school spirit is IMPECABLE. The seniors and juniors have the "Tech Pack" at football games where we occupy a fourth of the (small) bleachers and we are decked out in face paint and glitter and confetti and streamers and blow horns. We go all out to support our football team. In fact, our yearbook this year is focused on our team spirit and how committed we all are to our sports teams.

Teachers: Most of the teachers at school are extremely enjoyable and fun to talk to and everything. But then there's some who are really boring and dry and don't seem to know what they are talking about and just throw papers at us as busy work. But the majority of the teachers are amazing and I hope to have lasting relationships with them after I graduate.
