Teachers: Although the staff at Westlake High School varies greatly, for the most part teachers are committed to the students education; using interesting material and showing genuine concern for the students. The history department especially stands out.

Health & Safety: The school is extremely safety. There are fire alarms, and security guards who roam the school once in a while. There are always staff outside even during class hours. There is no physical bullying, but there is insults and laughing at each other, but it never goes far, more like drama. There is no smoking at school, but there is lots of talk about it and other drugs. In some rare occasions there are some who sell drugs out of school. The school nurse is there all day to help with anything. There is no drug day are red ribbon nor any awareness.

Overall Experience: Overall I have had a pretty good experience at my school such as making new friends and seeing a new perspective of how people live. I grew up in the valley and money was hard to come around with, so the teachers tried their hardest to have their students go through the right path and not fall behind. Most students and some of my friends in the valley grow up with drugs and gangs, making it hard to not be influenced, but not impossible. My parents moved us to Thousand Oaks for our better being. Now in this school its hard to live with bratty rich kids but not as hard as it is to live with gangs. Besides the dirty looks and insults from students, the school itself is good because they teach us numerous amounts of information. The school has lots of athletic helpers and the decathlon and mock trials are doing great as well.
