When my high school experience began I was very shy. I feel that going to Westside has helped me to overcome that. I have made so many great friends and met so many teachers who have left a permanent impression on me. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I love my school- it is nowhere near perfect. However, despite its downfalls, there are so many wonderful teachers who earnestly care for their students. Westside has little diversity, has favored athletics over education on many occasions, and some of the teachers are more than sub-par. I believe that my school has the potential to be an amazing place for education, but these flaws are holding it back.

There are good things about Westside, like how the people in your "clique" are genuinely nice and loyal to you. There are also bad things, like:

People in different cliques don't get along

People are judgemental

The teachers pick favorites

Most of the preps are rude to minority students

The school's budget is irresponsibly spent.

I love my school with a passion. The school building itself in some places aren't in the best condition. Our Agriculture building is in a shape that some much needed attention would be nice. The bathrooms in particular are in terrible condition. The technology at school is improving, but still not at the point that would be nice for the future students. The college prep courses and ACT prep courses are not taken as seriously as what they should be. The class itself could be very useful, but the proper education level isn't there to teach it. And the busing situation... day after day we hear multiple announcement and receive numerous nixle text making us aware of who is to ride what bus due to lack of drivers and lack of funds to hire someone new. Some kids have to stay after school 30 to 45 min waiting on their bus to drop off other kids then come back and pick them up.
